LITTLE TIBET - LADAKH TOUR

Tour Ladakh

The culture and scenery of Ladakh makes for a fascinating excursion from Delhi. Strong Buddhist influences and migration from Tibet, create an atmosphere very different to other parts of India

Day 01               

Delhi/ leh. On time transfer to airport to connect flight for Leh.

Dep: Delhi                By: 9w 609 At: 0540 hrs.
Arr: Leh At: 0655 hrs.

Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.

Afternoon half day city tour - founded in the 11th Century A.D.., its earlier Gompa was destroyed in fire. The present Gompa dates back to the 18th Century. Skilled craftsman producing excellent tankhyas, earthern pots, carved folding wooden stools etc. live in the village. Majestically situated, it commands a spectacular view.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 - Leh. Morning walk to the shankar Gompa which has innumerable statues of pure gold and a number of interesting paintings. Later walk to the Leh palace and on the Leh Palace and on the way back visit the cottage industries emporium. Drive to the spituk monastery (5 miles) which contains a large collection of tankhas and old masks. Proceed to visit the Phyiang Monastery before returning to the hotel.

Day 03 - Leh. Morning full day excursion to Shey, Thiksey and Hemis, Shey was once the residence of the royal family and is famous for its 7.5 meter high gilded statue of Buddha. Thiksey is one of the largest and most impressive Monastry, famous for its various images, stupas and exquisite wall paintings. It also houses a two - storeyed statue of buddha. Hemis, the biggest and  richest of them all is well known for its festival in summer.

Day 04 - Leh. Morning full day excursion to Alchi and Likir. After breakfast, drive to Alchi to see the 11th Century Gompa across the river. This Gompa has exquisite paintings and 'tankhas'. There are large statues of Lord Buddha and Avalokiteshwara in the Gompa. Also visit Likir before returning to Leh.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 05 - Leh/Delhi/ Leave Delhi. On time transfer to airport to connect flight for onward journey.
